MAUNDY THURSDAY + LAUNDRY LOVE= MAUNDY LAUNDRY
Maundy Thursday is a time to remember the radical love of Jesus revealed in his last meal with his disciples. He scandalized his own followers as he washed their feet and gave them a new commandment (mandatum novum, or “maundy”): “Love one another as I have loved you.” This Maundy Thursday, The Abbey has partnered with Laundry Love to participate in a modern day foot washing: to wash the clothes and bedding of individuals and families living in San Marcos and to nurture the health, hygiene, economic, and relational well-being of each person through unlikely friendship.
We will be at Grande Laundry from 6-9pm, and people will have the opportunity to welcome people, purchase laundry loads with church-funded cards, host the food table, and simply enjoy others during this time.
If you would like to support Maundy Laundry, you can do so by:
Providing Food: We have the privilege of setting up a finger-food station at the laundromat. If you'd like to bake something for the event we're looking for cookies, desserts, and tasty treats.
Praying: This may seem obvious, but The Abbey is attempting to listen, learn, and love our community through this event. We would appreciate prayer for participation, relationships established, and to demonstrate the love of Christ through Laundry Love.
Contribute Financially: This is a new venture for The Abbey and the expected outreach cost could be upwards of $500. If you'd like to contribute, here click and note "laundry" in the memo.
If you have any questions, please contact Matthew.
